Getúlio Vargas Foundation – Motion & Mapping

Motion and mapping

A musical and visual concert for the opening of the exhibition “Rio XXI, Vertentes Construtivas”, bringing together works by Brazilian artists curated by Paulo Herkenhoff and Leno Veras. SuperUber was invited to create a visual concert with animations in the dome of the FGV auditorium, designed by Oscar Niemeyer, synchronized with live music from the Brazilian Symphonic Orchestra.

The project features animations freely inspired by the works of the artists that are part of the exhibition, such as Bokel, Toz, Adriana Maciel, Hebert Sobral, among others. The animations create a visual concert, triggered by the notes of each instrument. The orchestra, under the command of Nikolay Sapoundjiev, is made up of a brass quintet (horn, trumpets, trombone and tuba), drums and percussion. The choice of the Orchestra’s instruments, as well as the works that inspire the projection, were made carefully for the performance. The moving art amplifies iconic Brazilian songs — such as Trenzinho Caipira and Samba do Avião — on the giant surface of the dome, which could be seen by guests and passers-by from the surrounding urban space.
