Interactive mapped sculpture

The installation game OctoCloud is a sculpture mapped with projections, where up to eight visitors interact using their smartphones or tablets. Through a simple slingshot mechanic, players launch projectiles across the sculpture’s surface, experiencing the fusion of virtual and physical worlds as motion responds to the sculpture’s slopes, while gameplay extends to their mobile screens through real-time visual feedback; for example, as objects are destroyed the game screen explodes into an animated performance that visually extends to the player’s mobile screen.

The installation was commissioned through the Creators Project, which celebrates creativity, culture and technology through the work of visionary artists around the world. The sculpture has been shown in Barcelona, San Francisco, Beijing, Moscow, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
