Innovation Curatorship & set design
Rio2C was born out of RioContentMarket, which over 7 editions (2011-2017) has become the largest audiovisual event in Latin America, with the participation of more than 30 thousand professionals from 36 countries. In 2018, with CEO Rafael Lazarini, the event grew beyond the audiovisual, embracing innovation and music.
Liana Brazil, SuperUber’s creative director, was the innovation curator for Rio2C 2018, selecting themes, lectures and panels; startups for pitchings; Hackathon and Maker Marathon; and one of the largest Virtual and Augmented Reality Arcades in Latin America, with over 80 experiences from 26 different studios around the world. SuperUber also created the projection mapping for the main hall of the event. Rio2C’sgeneral curator is audiovisual producer Carla Esmeralda.
Over 100 experts participated in 33 talks and panels about innovation in entertainment, education, journalism, smart cities, biotech, artificial intelligence, robotics, creative coding, blockchain and immersive media.

XR ARCADE – Extended Reality
The Rio2C Arcade brought over 80 experiences from linear films to interactive content and games. Among the 26 studios that participated were Penrose (winner of Venice VR 2017, the Oscar for VR), Baobab (winner of the Emmy), REWIND (winner of the Cannes Lion and Webby Awards) and Within (from director Chris Milk). The Arcade also brought a Meta demo, the most promising AR headset on the market for the first time in Latin America, and Brazilian production studios, such as Arvore, KWO, the Visgraf Lab from IMPA and the director Tadeu Jungle.
The Arcade received over 4,000 people in 5 geodesic domes and three rooms designed and coordinated by SuperUber, at the City of Arts in Rio.
INNOVATION PITCHING – A stage for entrepreneurs
Featuring 15 projects related to AR / VR, Artificial Intelligence, Mobile apps, IoT, Robotics, Blockchain and Digital Platforms. The pitching sessions had specialists and angel investors, which brought visibility and opportunities for the startups.
HACKATHON and PETROBRAS MAKER MARATHON
The Petrobras Maker Marathon and the Hackathon selected 10 groups to develop innovative ideas. The groups attended lectures with mentors such as Zach Lieberman (Openframeworks), Ralph Borland (African Robots), Miguel Lannes (Inventions Digitals), Rita Wu (Reefab Lab Livre SP) and Samuel Medeiros de Queiroz (Oi’s Cloud Openstack). The two winning groups received a prize of 10,000 reais each.
