Social Snap at SXSW

Interactive Installation

SuperUber took part in the South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) 2013. The event brings together a unique convergence of music, independent films, and new technologies in Austin, USA. The interactive portion of SXSW is one of the largest digital culture events in the world. SuperUber presented Social Snap, an interactive installation, at the FEED space, in partnership with The Meta Agency from New York.

Social Snap consists of geometric shapes assembled to create a large projected visual collage. Using projection mapping, the geometric forms are covered with images sent to Instagram by the audience during the event. As social media increasingly becomes a communication tool deeply embedded in people’s lives, SuperUber developed an interactive art installation to highlight this connection.

Social Snap allows people to showcase their experiences and express themselves through the original sculpture. Visitors take photos and upload them to Instagram using a specific tag. The software retrieves the images from Instagram and projects them onto the sculpture in real time.

SuperUber also presented the Teleporter installation at the AT&T Lounge during SXSW.
