Little Match Girl Passion

Video set design

SuperUber created the video set design for the musical “Little Match Girl Passion” by David Lang, inspired by the short story by Hans Christian Andersen. The play premiered in June 2015 at the Experimentation Centre of Teatro Colón (CETC) in Buenos Aires, and is touring the US in 2016.

The set design is an immersive projection that surrounds the audience with animated shadows. The shadows are a representation of the girl’s visions. It represents the opposites, like day and night, life and death, good and evil, light and shadow. The recurrent action of lighting up and off the matches is represented by LED necklaces worn by the musicians.
